Itinerary

Introduction
DAY 01 | AIRPORT – COLOMBO

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your accommodation in Colombo. As you journey through the scenic hills, meandering rivers, and vibrant farmlands, you'll pass into the bustling city. Explore Fort, the former British administrative center, Sea Street's Goldsmith’s quarters, the vibrant Pettah Bazaar, a Hindu temple with intricate carvings, and the 18th-century Dutch Church of Wolfendhal. DAY 02 | COLOMBO – PINNAWALA – POLONNARUWA – DAMBULLA

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a 2 ½ hour drive. Founded in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation, the orphanage cares for orphaned baby elephants and focuses on breeding and research. Later, you will proceed to Polonnaruwa, a 4 ½ hour drive, to explore the ancient capital of Sri Lanka. Highlights include the Lankatileke, Tivanka, and Thuparama shrine ruins, as well as the famous Gal Vihare rock shrine. Finally, check in at your hotel and relax for the evening. DAY 03 | DAMBULLA/SIGIRIYA – SIGIRIYA – MATALE – KANDY

After an early breakfast, begin the day by climbing Sigiriya Rock Fortress, famously known as the “Fortress in the Sky” or Lion Rock, due to the massive lion statue that once guarded its entrance. Rising 500 feet, this ancient marvel showcases the remnants of a royal palace and gardens at its summit. Afterward, proceed to Matale, visiting a spice garden en route, where you’ll discover Cinnamon, Cardamom, and other spice plants, with guides explaining their culinary uses. Continue to Kandy, where you’ll visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, take a scenic Upper Lake Drive, explore Market Square, and a gem lapidary. DAY 04 | KANDY – PERADENIYA – NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast, explore the sprawling 60-hectare Peradeniya Botanical Garden near Kandy, once a royal park before British rule. The garden boasts a stunning orchid collection and a stately avenue of royal palms planted in 1905. Afterward, head to Nuwara Eliya, stopping en route to visit a tea factory and plantation. Known as the "Little England" of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya is nestled among scenic mountains, valleys, and waterfalls. Its cooler climate, reminiscent of an English spring day, is a charming contrast to the rest of the island. British colonial influence is evident in the architecture, with houses resembling country cottages and Queen Anne-style mansions. DAY 05 | NUWARA ELIYA – AIRPORT

After breakfast you will be transferred back to airport for your flight back home. (Driving time to Airport – 6 hrs.)
